Question:

Was trying to figure out were to go for support. 1) Social Security, how to apply? 2) Benefits from the state of Washington? 3) Housing assistance, since I need to move out of my               friends house. I need a place were my son and daughter         can stay when I visit, not some sort of shelter. 4) How to get back on my feet finacialy? 5) This might sound superficial, but how to repair my credit     which was damaged severly by this illness. 6) How to start my own consulting Business? This all would help or any other advice. Chuck

Hi Charels, Welcome to ASDM. > Was trying to figure out were to go for support. 1) Social Security, how > to apply?

Call the 800 # in your phone book or call the local SS office. They will send you an application. > 2) Benefits from the state of Washington?

Call the Dept. of Social Services and ask for assistance. > 3) Housing assistance, since I need to move out of my >friends house. I need a place were my son and daughtercan stay >when

visit, not some sort of shelter. Again, the Dept. of Social Services should be of some assistance. You can get in touch with HUD. > 4) How to get back on my feet finacialy?

That depends. If you qualify for SSDI, you are restricted in the amount you can earn in a month. It is not easy. > 5) This might sound superficial, but how to repair my credit     which was > damaged severly by this illness.

Consult with a consumer credit agency. Consoildation of bills is possible. The services are free of charge. > 6) How to start my own consulting Business?

Hmmm…that can be challenging. What area is your expertise in? > This all would help or any other advice.

Please keep us posted. > Chuck

Hi Charles: Lynda gave you some great information… she always does (hugs).  I’d just like to add a couple things: A place for good Social Security information:  www.ssa.gov.  They should have all the information there you need in order to file.  You can also print out many of the publications they have there.  I don’t think you can file online though.  Not sure. There is also tons of information in your local phone book.  My suggestion is to look under "community servies." Best of luck to you, Charles… Stay in touch. Linda Briteyes
