And make sure that the condensate drain line isn’t plugged so water doesn’t collect in the A/C unit and grow some more stuff. > If you don’t like the smell of Lysol that will be in the car for a day or two, > follow this up by spraying some Glade or other air freshener in the system the > same way. Response:
I’ve never had this problem when I was in California, but ever since living in New York, whenever I turn the AC on(during summer only, of course) in my 96 Prelude, it stinks like hell. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks in advance!

>> whenever I turn the AC on(during summer >>only, of course) in my 96 Prelude,
it stinks >>like hell. Anyone know how to fix this? ACs generate condensation….mold spores and bacteria grow in the water….and this eventually smells. There are commercial products available, but a simple home remedy is to put some Lysol in a spray bottle (maybe it comes in a spray can, too?) and spray it generously into the intakes on the hood just in front of the windshield. Do this with the AC on full blast. Then put the heat on full blast. The germicide kills the spores. If you don’t like the smell of Lysol that will be in the car for a day or two, follow this up by spraying some Glade or other air freshener in the system the same way. Not so much, though.
