Yikes! …youtube is killing me, lol! A couple of months ago in AGA, someone posted a youtube link. I was able to view the video without a problem. Now, nada…just the message to update flash; which I’ve done at least five times, with no discernable effect. I’ve got IE security settings at Medium…any other suggestions?

That kind of thing can be annoying. I don’t know how to fix that. I use Mozilla, and don’t know my way around IE. Youtube got themselves a new player interface recently, and I suppose it needs newer plug-ins. Doesn’t that kind of webpage use Flash *and* Macromedia drivers? When I get a new computer, I always mess around with those things until I get the Homestar Runner website working, and that’s usually enough to get things working. Pete

Could be a few things , so here’s one to try.. I’m sure you’re running a virus scan program of some sort other blockers than what IE has to offer Make sure ( if you do have one or more) they’re allowing the program to run(allow acsess)?? If you,ve had any windoz updates lately, make sure your settings are what they were before, for example, everytime I get an update from there, it sets my default mail to "Outlook" and I have to back in and set it to "Outlook Express" which is what I use??? Go figure??? AHHHHH”” PUTERS
Good luck!! It’s bound to be something so simple you’re going to end up saying "DUH" Sonny

Try Firefox, for starters. Second, it looks like YouTube deleted a lot of stuff, and in some cases it seems rather than being honest and saying the item was deleted, they’re just generating fake error messages. I may be wrong, this is just a WAG. Lastly, they may have fiddled with the video that’s being transmitted, and things may not play if you’re missing a codec or have an outdated codec. I installed the "K-Lite Mega Codec Pack", which seems to be able to play damn near everything. — Ned Carlson SW side of Chicago, USA www.tubezone.net

Highly recommended! Also contains Media Player Classic, which can make use of most of these codecs. __ Steve .

After playing around with various Macromedia downloads and getting nowhere, I did it the old fashioned way. Found all directories referring to "flash" and deleted `em. After that, the Flash 8 download installed, and all is well again. Still don’t know what made it all *stop* working, but it’s working now. ;- )
I’ve got a Peavey Triumph 60 watt all valve combo that is causing me some headeache. It just dies after a while. By switching the standby switch briefly on/off it comes back to life again. Trouble is that this happens quite often, thus making the amp worthless. Anyone with a suggestion for how to fix this? The valves are quite new, so I don’t expect them to be causing the trouble. Your amp needs one of several things. There are solder joints that have cracked over time needing resoldered and there are jacks that need cleaned. The Triumphs I have worked on have been problematic for their owners until they have had ALL of their circuit boards examined for funky solder. Good luck!
had a similar prob but with diff amp & the culprits were bad solder joints like the other poster mentioned. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> I’ve got a Peavey Triumph 60 watt all valve combo that is causing me some > headeache. I’ve had a 60w Brownsville Thug (don’t laugh) for a few years that just recently started to put out a really fuzzed up sound at a low volume when you first turn it on, then kick in like regular after its been powered up for a little while. My friendly neighborhood guitar tech said it sounded like a loose filter cap and shouldn’t be a huge deal to fix. Despite the amp being sam ash house brand crap, it really doesn’t sound that bad, and I’d like to take a stab at fixing it myself. Any recommendations on how to identify and repair a loose or otherwise malfunctioning filter cap? Regards, Drew

Take it to a real tech… you have some kind of thermal joint problem… could be anything… you need freeze spray! – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->Regards, >Drew

Not true, a good tech has fixed enough of these types of problems to be able to make generalized guess as to the problem and is usually right about it. A ‘loose’ filter cap that has a broken solder joint can certainly have a thermal aspect to it, but a good routine of close inspection and wiggling parts is always my first approach to any problem.

Since the ‘other tech’ never touched the amp, I fail to see why you think he is right… Did you touch that amp? It’s true a loose cap ‘could’ produce a thermal delay as is the symptom, but it would be my last guess…

Not mine. I’d guess the loose cap over lots of other stuff, like wild weasles in the chassis, space/time warps, and CIA conspiracies. YMMV.

I’ve got 21 years of electronics experience all in a manufacturing environment,14 years as a tech, 7 as an engineer, 4 years fixing hundreds of amps (on the side) for the local music store. > A ‘loose’ filter cap that has a broken solder joint >can certainly have a thermal aspect to it, but a good routine of close >inspection and wiggling parts is always my first approach to any >problem. >Since the ‘other tech’ never touched the amp, I fail to see why you think he is >right… Did you touch that amp? Well, I fail to see why you think he is wrong. I’ve fixed dozens of amps under the same assumption. As a matter of fact, this type of problem is, AFAIC, is the fatest to diagnose. Amp buzzes, inspect filter caps first, slam, bam, done. Amp is fixed in mere minutes, takes longer to R&R the screws for the cover. Freeze spray is a very useful tool, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve seen guys blow through 2 or 3 cans of freeze spray and never get any useful results. Besides, that shits expensive and I’d never hire a tech who always reached for the freeze spray without a good dose of close inspection first. So there, flame away man…

A loose filter cap would cause a great hum – not a weak and distorted sound. It is something else, heat related, possibly killing a bias circuit or opening the signal path. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->>>I’d find another tech… >>>> Despite the amp being >>>>sam ash house brand crap, it really doesn’t sound that bad, and I’d like to >>>>take a stab at fixing it myself. That was a ‘tongue in cheek’ reply… meaning he probably had a thermally detectable problem… not a loose part. He said the problem clears up by itself after a few minutes – loose parts don’t tighten themselves… cold parts heat up… hot joints re-connect. >> a good tech has fixed enough of these types of problems to >>be able to make generalized guess as to the problem and is usually >>right about it. >I’ve been a tech for 40 years… I made a good guess too. and I’m usually right >about it. Just one little problem with your diagnosis… you missed the problem! He said nothing about ‘hum’, he said the sound is ‘fuzzy’ and ‘weak’ until it warms up. Which sounds like a poor connection (most probable) or broken part near a heat source. Could even be a bias problem… >Freeze spray is a very useful tool, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve seen >guys blow through 2 or 3 cans of freeze spray and never get any useful >results.

I agree with that… push and pull everything you can first! Hell – I rarely use my scope on amps! Finding problems comes more from experience and theory then from ‘tracing’. >So there, flame away man…

Well if you want to split hairs he said ‘really fuzzed up’ and I agree that the exact words used does not make it sound like loose caps. I take all problems described by customers with a grain of salt, but to disregard what his local tech indicated would be a small mistake. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->It is something else, heat related, possibly killing a bias circuit or opening >the signal path. >>>>I’d find another tech… >>>>> Despite the amp being >>>>>sam ash house brand crap, it really doesn’t sound that bad, and I’d like to >>>>>take a stab at fixing it myself. Loose parts can do just about anything, disconnect or reconnect, with heat causing/helping either problem. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->>> a good tech has fixed enough of these types of problems to >>>be able to make generalized guess as to the problem and is usually >>>right about it. >>I’ve been a tech for 40 years… I made a good guess too. and I’m usually right >>about it. Hum, fuzzy, weak, I hear these words used to describe many different problems all the time, sometimes used to describe the same problem. I only had a itch with you dissing what the original tech indicated, regardless of if it was totally accurate or not, it could very well be something as simple as what he stated and to not pay attention to such things would be a mistake in my opinion. >Freeze spray is a very useful tool, don’t get me wrong, but I’ve seen >guys blow through 2 or 3 cans of freeze spray and never get any useful >results. >I probably haven’t used a whole can in my life… but it’s very useful on UHF >transmitter boards…

Big 10-4 on that one. I rarely use mine too. I found techs that trace a lot just haven’t had enough experience in the trenches yet. >So there, flame away man… >I try not to flame – I ran out of marshmallows!

Bingo! Give the man a cigar! or aan old, brown, cigar shaped capacitor. I started to just put weasels. Then the Wild Weasels sort of flew through my head, firing missles that tracked my thoughts to their roots. I’ve always meant to write a song called "Wild Weasels", a take off on the Stones’ "Wild Horses".

Maybe. Or keep the song tempo the same, but play it heavy metal style, with everything going faster inside the beat.
I have a Traynor Custom Valve 40 amp that is about 2.5 years old, so just out of warranty. Apparently the standy switch went out. My repair tech says that the standby switch is unusual in that is is connected to several transistors. From what I have read, this is a common problem with these amps. Does anyone know if the fix is just as simple as replacing that switch? Can it be replaced with a more stanard standby switch so this does not happen again? Thanks for any help. Keith

Robert M. Braught has the dirt on those amps and their oddball standby system. I was enquiring about them a year or two ago, and his explanation of the standby problems convinced me that it wasn’t dependable enough. If he doesn’t notice your post, then do a Google search for his advice here: http://groups.google.com/groups?oi=djq&as_ugroup=alt.guitar.amps because I’m pretty sure that he mentioned how to fix it. And I think that it can also be done like a regular amp. Good luck. Pete — DO not move from that location which you should not be moving from! –Mojo Jojo

When the distributor is in a 96 and newer V8(5.0, 5.7, 7.4) and the engine is at TDC on the #1 cylinder compression stroke the rotor should be pointing at a pointer on the side of the distributor housing that has a number 8 on it, the pointer is on the flat part of the distributor housing

I did the same thing on my 96 chevy 2500 back in December. I could not get the thing to fire at all. I ended up doing the TDC trick and #1 Terminal. Finally got it to fire up,, but cannot get it to "time" out correctly. I still have the Check Engine light on and it reads me "Cam to crank position correlation fault",, but runs great. Anyone know how to fix this problem?? Thanks in advance Philc
Lan, I do everything that you do with one extra step. I mark the cylinders on an old distributor cap and then cut the top off. That way, you can use the cut-away cap to help line things up. Take the spark plug out, and crank the engine over by hand. If you can reach while cranking the engine, stick your finger in the hole, and you will feel the engine coming up on compression. (what you will feel is the air coming out of the hole) Once you get #1 TDC….then you align the rotor with the (1) mark on the distributor housing. It’s a little tiny number stamped into the outside edge of the housing where the cap fits on. By the way, for next time, there are only two marks you have to make. I always mark the cap position while it is still on the distributor. These caps have two parallel lines cast into the top of the cap, I mark the position of the cap relative to the firewall using these two lines as my "sight". This automatically lines up the distributor housing to the intake. Then pull off the cap, mark where the rotor lines up with either the firewall or some other object in the engine bay that it happens to be pointing to. As you then pull the distributor out, you will notice that the rotor turns a little bit as it comes out. Remember this, and when you install it, note where the rotor "should" end up at….and then determine approximately where it should be as you install the distributor. Once the distributor is in all the way, and the rotor is lined up, stick on the cap and then you can rotate the whole dist and cap and get it lined up. Tighten down the clamp and away you go. Ian
First, you need to make sure that it is at #1 TDC, pull the plug out, and turn it over till #1 is on compression stroke, the align using marks. then align rotor to #1. You might need someone with a scan tools to look at the CMP retard and fine turn from there. Cam

hello, I just finished putting everything back together after replacing the intake manifold gasket (‘99 Chevy K1500, old body style, 80K miles). one thing to remember for somebody trying to do this is that it is very important to mark the distributor in relation to the manifold, and the rotor in relation to the distributor base BEFORE AND AFTER the distributor is taken out. so you need three marks: 1 is distributor base to manifold, 2 is rotor to distributor base before distributor is removed, and 3 is rotor to distributor base after distrbutor is removed. i made the mistake of only making the first two marks. after the distributor was taken out, the rotor was accidentally turned, turning also the distributor shaft, and now i had no idea how to aling the rotor so that, on insertion, the marks made before the distributor was taken out would align. after a lot of fidgeting with the distributor (taking it out, turning it slightly, putting it back in, repeated several times), i finally was able to align the marks i had made. however, the truck is not starting. it is turning over, but does not start. i believe the rotor is completely out of whack with the engine. so if anybody has any hints on how to aling the rotor, i would appreciate them. can i simply align the timing marks by turning over the engine at the camshaft pulley and then making sure the rotor is pointing at the #1 terminal? do i have to "feel" for compression at the #1 spark plug hole and then align the rotor to the #1 terminal? how does one go about feeling for compression at the spark plug hole? any help would be appreciated. thanks!

Your thermostat may be sticking open keeping the engine from warming up. Fairly common on the first gen explorers. — Elbridge Gerry, of Massachusetts: "What, sir, is the use of militia? It is to prevent the establishment of a standing army, the bane of liberty. . . Whenever Government means to invade the rights and liberties of the people, they always attempt to destroy the militia, in order to raise a standing army upon its ruins." – Debate, U.S. House of Representatives, August 17, 1789
Doesn’t make any noise on turns. Just on the highway at 65 to 75 mph. Scott

possibly. usually they make a whirring or grinding noise more prominent when loaded on swerves or turns. if there is some play or wear there, that could cause the noise and vibration. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> > Thanks guys!!! ‘it’ ??? there’s more than one universal joint universal joints usually act as you describe: at one certain speed (and it’s multiples, if its low enough; 30,60,90, etc) it will shake the vehicle take it to a shop that knows what to look for and how to fix it

Thanks guys!!! The tires aren’t cupped and the ball joints check out OK. I’ll send it to a decent shop and have the universal joints checked out. If they are OK then I’ll check the balance on the driveshaft. If these are OK then I guess I’ll have to live with it. I have a 1996 small 4wd Blazer Vortec that is making a low pitch humming noise and vibration when you hit 60 to 75 mph. At 80 mph it stops. You don’t hear it below 55 mph. I just did a 4 wheel thrust alignment on it yesterday for $100 along with a 4 wheel spin balance and it didn’t help. It’s really a low pitched humming aggrevating vibration and loud at speed and makes your ears hurt and mirror vibrate so bad that you see blurs in it . If I throw the truck into neutral it still does it when rolling. I try to turn up the radio so i don’t go nuts or drive below 60 mph. I can’t take a trip with it at all on the highway because my family complains of the noise. I’m running all season Goodyear Wranglers on it. The Chevy Dealer said it may be a universal joint but I had it changed in January when I bought the truck. Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks, Scott

Tom your last point is what really counts. Bush is handing Bin Laden victory after victory, not only does he have his war in the Arab world but for every freedom that Bush/Ashcroft freely give up of ours and for every new security measure they enact, Bin Laden wins another victory. The truth is that if Bush had not created Homeland Securities, The Patriot Act and every other freedom grabbing act they have implimented, Amercia would still be "Free". He should have called together the committee that is going on now called the 9-11 commission. They are trying to find out what went wrong and how to fix it. It has become apparent that our security agencies did not talk to each other. Evidence was there. We knew flight schools were training possible terrorist. We knew that an incident was going to take place using an aircraft. We were so sure about this information that top people in the Bush administration switched to government planes. Ashcroft switched to the private FBI plane. The real irony is that Bush is trying to give a very diverse group of people freedom yet has no problem taking away some of ours. Does anyone truely believe that there will be peace in Isreal when the Palistinians and the Jews hate each other? or that we can have peace in Iraq when the Shi’ites and the Sunmi and the Kurds hate each other. What works in the United States only works because we did away with the American Indian nations or at least dis-empowered them. Mike

Nader: Iraq an Unconstitutional, Illegal War Based on Five Falsehoods: CONGRESS SHOULD BEGIN IMPEACHMENT INQUIRY OF BUSH AND CHENEY "All public policy should revolve around the principle that individuals are responsible for what they say and do." — George W. Bush, 1994. Washington, DC: Building on his call for the impeachment of President Bush and Vice President Cheney, Independent Presidential candidate Ralph Nader today is calling on Members of the House of Representatives to begin an impeachment inquiry to investigate two distinct impeachable offenses. An Impeachment Inquiry is the first step toward considering Articles of Impeachment. During an Impeachment Inquiry the House would investigate whether there are potential impeachable offenses. Impeachment Inquiry and the Process of Impeachment While the Constitution is clear in granting the impeachment power to the House, it leaves the development of mechanisms for exercising the power to the House. As noted by the Association of the Bar of the City of New York in "The Law of Presidential Impeachment By the Committee on Federal Legislation" (see: http://www.abcny.org/presimpt.htm): "A variety of methods have been employed to institute impeachment proceedings: Charges may be made orally on the floor by a Member of the House; a Member may submit a written statement of charges; one or more Members of the House may offer a resolution and place it in the legislative hopper; a presidential message to the House may initiate proceedings. The House has also received charges from a state legislature, from a territory, and from a grand jury. Finally, there may be a report of a committee of the House which may submit facts or charges that will lead to impeachment. Under the rules governing the order of business in the House a direct proposition to impeach is a matter of highest privilege and supersedes other business. Similar privileged treatment is given to propositions relating to a pending impeachment." The purpose of the Impeachment Inquiry is to have a Committee develop a report for the House which then can be considered for the purpose of determining whether to proceed with impeachment proceedings. The House determines whether to impeach based on a majority vote. It is important to remember that impeachment does not mean conviction – that is left to the Senate. Impeachment is the equivalent of an indictment, making formal charges, which the Senate then considers. Conviction requires two-thirds of the Members present in the Senate to vote for conviction. Two Potential Articles of Impeachment that Should be Part of an Impeachment Inquiry The Impeachment Inquiry should focus on two areas involving President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney. The unconstitutional war in Iraq. "The Inquiry should examine whether President Bush and Vice President Cheney have gone beyond the bounds of the Constitution, defied the rule of law, and if so, whether impeachment is the appropriate constitutional punishment," said Nader. The United States Congress never voted for the Iraq war. Congress voted for a resolution in October 2002 which unlawfully transferred to the President the decision-making power of whether to launch a first-strike invasion of Iraq. The United States Constitution’s War Powers Clause (Article 1, Section 8, Clause 11) vests the power of deciding whether to send the nation into war solely in the United States Congress. This can only be changed by a constitutional amendment. "Our founders had seen what could occur when the power to declare war was vested in one person, a King or a Queen, so they took clear steps to ensure no one person could declare war for the United States. As James
found, than in the clause which confides the question of war and peace to the legislature, and not to the executive department," noted Nader. Five Falsehoods that Led to the Iraq Quagmire: Making matters worse in this situation, the illegal first-strike invasion and occupation of Iraq was justified by five falsehoods. Nader calls for a second area for Impeachment Inquiry to examine: the "five falsehoods that led to war." In 1994 George W. Bush said: "All public policy should revolve around the principle that individuals are responsible for what they say and do." In 2000, he ran as the "responsibility " candidate. Manipulation or deliberate misuse of national security intelligence data, if proven, would be "a high crime" under the Constitution’s impeachment clause. Article II, Section 4 of the Constitution provides: "The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors." WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION. The weapons have still not been found. Nader emphasized, "Until the 1991 Gulf War, Saddam Hussein was our government’s anti-communist ally in the Middle East. We also used him to keep Iran at bay. In so doing, in the 1980s under Reagan and the first Bush, corporations were licensed by the Department of Commerce to export the materials for chemical and biological weapons that President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney later accused him of having." Those weapons were destroyed after the Gulf War. President Bush’s favorite chief weapons inspector, David Kay, after returning from Iraq and leading a large team of inspectors and spending nearly half a billion dollars told the president :We were wrong." See: David Kay testimony before Senate Armed Services Committee, January 28, 2004. IRAQ TIES TO AL QAEDA: The White House made this claim even though the CIA and FBI repeatedly told the Administration that there was no tie between Saddam Hussein and Al Qaeda. They were mortal enemies – one secular, the other fundamentalist. SADDAM HUSSEIN WAS A THREAT TO THE UNITED STATES: In fact, Saddam was a tottering dictator, with an antiquated, fractured army of low morale and with Kurdish enemies in Northern Iraq and Shiite adversaries in the South of Iraq. He did not even control the air space over most of Iraq. SADDAM HUSSEIN WAS A THREAT TO HIS NEIGHBORS: In fact, Iraq was surrounded by countries with far superior military forces. Turkey, Iran and Israel were all capable of obliterating any aggressive move by the Iraqi dictator. THE LIBERATION OF THE IRAQI PEOPLE: There are brutal dictators throughout the world, many supported over the years by Washington, whose people need "liberation " from their leaders. This is not a persuasive argument since for Iraq, it’s about oil. In fact, the occupation of Iraq by the United States is a magnet for increasing violence, anarchy and insurrection. Nader urges the Congress to investigate the illegal nature of the war, and how the five falsehoods became part of the Bush Administration’s drum beat for war, in a formal Inquiry of Impeachment. — For further information, contact: Kevin Zeese 1-202-265-4000 — well. The Worst President? Liberals claim President Bush shouldn’t have started this war. They complain about his prosecution of it. They point out that Iraq didn’t attack the U.S. and we shouldn’t have went to war with them. One liberal recently claimed Bush was the worst president in U.S. history. Most of these claims come from liberals in the Democratic party. Being an Independent I decided to take a look at history and see if using that criteria who else could be called the "worst" president. FDR ( a democrat) led us into World War II against Germany, Italy, and Japan. Neither Germany or Italy ever attacked us: Japan did. From 1941-1945, 450,000 lives were lost, an average of 112,500 per year. That’s 1 Democratic President, 4 years and 450,000 American lives Harry Truman (a democrat) finished that war and started one in Korea, North Korea never attacked us. From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an average of 18,333 per year. That’s 1 Democratic President, 3 years, and 55,000 American lives. John F. Kennedy (a democrat) started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam never attacked us. Lyndon B. Johnson (a democrat) turned Vietnam into a quagmire. From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per year. Finally in the 1970’s Richard Nixon (a republican) pulled us out of Vietnam. That’s 2 Democratic Presidents, 1 Republican President, 13 years, and 58,000 American lives. Bill Clinton went to war in Bosnia WITHOUT UN or French consent, Bosnia never attacked us. The Clinton administration was offered Osama bin Laden’s head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked us on multiple occasions. In the two years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear inspectors in Lybia, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot, and captured Sadaam Hussein, who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people. We lost about 600 soldiers, an average of 200 a year. Bush did all this abroad while not allowing another terrorist attack at home. That’s 1 Republican President, 2 1/2 years, and about 600 American lives. Then the Democrats complained about how long the war on terror is taking, but… It took less time to take Iraq than it TOOK JANET RENO TO TAKE THE BRANCH DAVIDIAN C0MPOUND! THAT WAS A 51 DAY OPERATION! We’ve been looking for evidence of chemical weapons in Iraq for LESS TIME THAN IT TOOK HILLARY CLINTON TO LOCATE THE ROSE LAW FIRM RECORDS IN HER OWN OFFICE! It took less time for the 3rd Infantry Division and the Marines to destroy the Medina Republican Guard than it took TED KENNEDY TO CALL THE POLICE AND GIVE HIMSELF UP AFTER HE HAD AN ACCIDENT WHILE DRUNK AND SANK HIS OLDSMOBILE IN THE CHAPPAQUIDIK RIVER KILLING THE YOUNG LADY WHO WAS HIS PASSENGER! And Finally… IT TOOK LESS TIME FOR THE U.S. MILITARY TO TAKE IRAQ THAN IT DID TO COUNT THE VOTES IN FLORIDA IN 2000!!!! But for some reason the Democrats didn’t complain about how long any of that took! Hmmm…..
Very interesting and thoughtful.

The country needs input from both sides – whether you like them or not, the conservative right wing and the liberal left wing both serve a purpose here – and the majority of citizens have opinions more moderate with occasional leanings to both sides. What has happened to civil political discourse, to dissent? What’s wrong with working together for the good of the country, not the primacy of the political party? Chris

For the record, Germany declared war with the United States immediately after we declared war on Japan on December 8, 1941. The vote to declare war on Japan passed the House of Representatives 434 to 1, with the one being a Republican from Montana > Harry Truman (a democrat) finished that war and started one in Korea, > North Korea never attacked us. A couple of problems: The "war" is still in progress since no armistice has been signed with North Korea. We have been operating under a cease fire for over 50 years with occasional shooting incidents since. It should also be noted that this was authorized by the United Nations mainly because the representative from the Soviet Union was stupid enough to walk out of the Security Council meeting rather than exercising his veto power to block the resolution authorizing the use of troops. In fact, while Iraq may have had chemical weapons, and missiles that threatened Israel, North Korea admits to having nuclear weapons, and they probably have missiles that could reach the Western United States, as well as Japan and South Korea. Now which is the greater threat? > John F. Kennedy (a democrat) started the Vietnam conflict in 1962. Vietnam > never attacked us. Lyndon B. Johnson (a democrat) turned Vietnam into a > quagmire. Currently, there are only three US Senators who served in Vietnam; Chuck Hagel (R-NE), John McCain (R-AZ), and John Kerry (D-MA). In 2002, one Senator, Max Cleland (D-GA) was called "chicken" and "unpatriotic" by Republicans despite losing three limbs in Vietnam. Apparently this was a good argument since he lost his re-election bid. > Bill Clinton went to war in Bosnia WITHOUT UN or French consent, Bosnia > never attacked us. Number of US combat related fatalities in Bosnia – 0 As for the Sudanese claim of offering to turn over Bin Laden, there is no evidence to support the assertion that Sudan ever offered him to the United States. For a lot more information on this topic, see http://www.9-11commission.gov/hearings/hearing8/staff_statement_5.pdf. > In the two years since terrorists attacked us, President Bush has > liberated two countries, crushed the Taliban, crippled al-Qaida, put nuclear > inspectors in Lybia, Iran and North Korea without firing a shot, and > captured Sadaam Hussein, who slaughtered 300,000 of his own people. > We lost about 600 soldiers, an average of 200 a year. You misspelled Libya. And speaking of Libya, after the bombing of Pan Am flight 103, there was no military retaliation against Quadafi after he murdered hundreds of Americans, the worst terrorist act against the United States until 9/11. Ronald Reagan was president at the time, but George H. W. Bush was coming into office. Both of those were Republicans. Also, there was no retaliation after our Marines were bombed in their barracks in Lebanon. In fact, after our citizens were kidnapped, Col. Oliver North sold Iran, who supported and financed the terrorists, anti-tank missiles in exchange for our hostages. Also, Donald Rumsfeld arranged for Saddam Hussein in 1983 to purchase the raw materials to gas his own people. At the time Kabul fell, the United States had only 750 troops on the ground. It is becoming apparent that the Taliban fled into the hills and are biding their time. There have been several attempts to kill the leader of Pakistan and replace him with a leader hostile to the United States. It is also confirmed that the person responsible for Pakistan developing a nuclear bomb has sold his knowledge to North Korea and who knows else, for which he was pardoned by the government of Pakistan and will never face charges for what he did. It is now becoming obvious that we abandoned the war on Al Quida and the Taliban in lieu of the war on Iraq. This has not only let the Taliban and Al Quida regroup, but unified the Arab world against us. While we never have been popular in the Middle East because of our support of Israel, opinion polls show that our support amongst the Arab population is at its lowest point in history. Our commanders in Iraq now estimate that 10% of the Iraqi security forces we trained are now actively fighting against us, and another 40% have abandoned their posts. As one solder put it, "They apparently didn’t get the memo [that the war ended in Iraq]." As for Iraq, we were told, without any doubt, that Iraq had weapons of mass destruction. It is now apparent that Iraq not only does not have weapons of mass destruction, that they did not have the capability of producing them since 1993. Even President Bush didn’t think there was enough evidence to indicate they possessed them. What is worse, and more disturbing, is that those responsible for the failures in Iraq (can anyone reasonably call what is going on there now a success?) have not been fired. > Then the Democrats complained about how long the war on terror is taking, > but… > It took less time to take Iraq than it TOOK JANET RENO TO TAKE THE BRANCH > DAVIDIAN C0MPOUND! Nothing like false analogies. By the way, more troops died in the first three weeks in April than in ALL OF THE "MAJOR COMBAT" PHASE OF THE WAR IN IRAQ! I thought that after we captured Saddam Hussein that the insurgency would melt away. It appears it not only has not gone away, but intensified. I don’t want to defend Hussein. The world is a better place without him in power. However, I am afraid we may have made a much worse problem, and given Osama Bin Laden his ultimate victory, a war between the United States and the Arab world. Tom Smith

The purpose of the Impeachment Inquiry is to have a Committee develop a report for the House which then can be considered for the purpose of determining whether to proceed with impeachment proceedings.

From 1950-1953, 55,000 lives were lost, an > average of 18,333 per year. That’s 1 Democratic President, 3 years, and > 55,000 American lives.
From 1965-1975, 58,000 lives were lost, an average of 5,800 per > year. Finally in the 1970’s Richard Nixon (a republican) pulled us out of > Vietnam. The Clinton administration was offered Osama bin Laden’s > head on a platter three times by Sudan and did nothing. Osama has attacked > us on multiple occasions.
Tom Smith

As another proud liberal democrat and pro-choice father I believe that 43 lied to America to satiate his need to exonerate 41 for his failure to rid Iraq of Saddam Hussein in 1991. and you have to be equally proud of 43’s wonderful war record with the National Guard. When asked if he would accept an assignment to Vietnam, he answered "No", which is why both "yes" and "no" are covered. The next question asks "where do you want to be assigned", and had W answered "yes" to the assignment to Vietnam question, this question would not have all of the answers blocked. W answered "no" to Vietnam and asked to be assigned somewhere safe, coward that he is. 600 dead Americans so far, 100 this month, this is the president you want us to re-elect? — DG in Cherry Hill, NJ Kerry ‘04

Mike

This Taiwanese copycat stuff is OK for turn signals, but their headlamps are pretty crappy. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > http://www.genera.com/prod_detail.cfm/ID/18-1963-01 > About $15 rockauto.com 1991 … Plymouth …. I put one in my last Acclaim before I got rid of it… can’t speak for it’s (sidemarker housing) longevity,, but seemed to fit ok,, I think the OEM part is about $50 US which I didn’t want to spend as I was getting rid of the car anyway at the time….. Headlights??… I don’t think I would bother with generic crap either You might know someone online that knows something about lighting and headlights maybe ask them . LOL Ted
While not a pool of water, I always got condensation in one headlight or the other. Thru 1995, NJ would flunk you for inspection when they saw condensation, and I am on my second right headlight. Where you twist in the socket to the back of the frame, make sure it is a tight fit. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > There is constant pool of water in both headlights. Chrysler has a vent kit for these cars, don’t know the number anymore, but it’s just a matter of drilling a couple small holes and inserting the vent,, did it on my Acclaims,, helped a lot but not completely… Maybe ping Daniel J. Stern he is the resident lighting expert and may know this PN by heart !!!
I have a similar problem on my 91 Accl., though in the marker light assembly. Been through three blown bulbs because of it, and it seems like it happens randomly. Anyone out there in Usenet land know of a way these things can be modified to give them a vent or something, or even a fix to block where this moisture’s coming from? in ten foot tall digital flames: – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text ->There is constant pool of water in both headlights. The corner marker that attaches to the front of the front fender and "rounds out" the corner where the headlamp meets the fender? > Been through three blown bulbs because of it, and it seems > like it happens randomly.
Not an endemic problem — your corner marker lamp assembly has just come unsealed. Replace it; they’re not expensive. > these things can be modified to give them a vent or something,
That’s only applicable to the headlamps — the marker lamps are supposed to be sealed. DS
