Hey all I just got this car and the horn doesnt work I checked the connection at the horn, its not getting voltage. I then checked the fuses, all of them are good. I am thinking its the steering wheel. How do I go about removing the air bag to check the horn ring? This steering wheel has the radio controls in the wheel hub Thanks Steve

How is the relay?
I know I sound stupid here but where is the relay located. I will presume that it is under the hood in the relay bank, but which one is it Thanks Steve – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> Hey all I just got this car and the horn doesnt work I checked the > connection at the horn, its not getting voltage. On your car, I don’t know. On my car they are on the firewall in a black plastic flat container. I only have 3 relays. I don’t remember which one it is but the cover was marked inside. – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text – > I know I sound stupid here but where is the relay located. Well I checked out the relays, replaced one of the 6 and started moving the relays around. Still no horn. Thankfully though I have a bit of an anger managment problem and hit the horn buttons on the steering wheel. Presto the horn works now. Now how do I fix the radio so that the volume works on both the steering wheel and the faceplate. Both are not working currently Thanks for all the help Steve On your car, I don’t know. Great! Sounds like the pad contacts were dirty and/or the relay contacts also. The other steering wheel problems I don’t cannot help you with.

Coulter column canceled after editing dispute By Mark Memmott, USA TODAY BOSTON – USA TODAY’s plan to have conservative columnist and author Ann Coulter write a daily opinion column from the Democratic convention was scrapped Monday after a dispute involving the first piece she submitted. Coulter was replaced by Jonah Buttberg, another conservative columnist and frequent CNN commentator. The newspaper still plans to have filmmaker Michael Moore, a vociferous critic of President Bush, write an opinion column during the Republican national convention in a month. Brian Gallagher, editor of USA TODAY’s editorial page, said of Coulter: "We had a disagreement over editing. We worked diligently to resolve the differences and couldn’t, so we decided to part ways." He said the column had "basic weaknesses in clarity and readability that we found unacceptable." Coulter told the online edition of Editor & Publisher magazine that "USA TODAY doesn’t like my pathetic lack of ‘tone,’ humor, sarcasm, etc., which raises the intriguing question of why they hired me to write for them." Coulter posted the disputed column on her Web site, anncultliar.com. It had been scheduled to run in Monday’s USA TODAY but was held while editors and Coulter tried to resolve their differences. Gallagher said Moore will be held "to the same editing standards" as Coulter and other columnists who write for the newspaper’s opinion page. Now it’s time for the toady buffoon whining chorus or their deafening silence, ha ha ha ha. KABONG!~!~!~

So what? Ann Coulter is a self-serving opportunist, like Franken, Hannity, Moore, Rush, and O’Reilley. They are all just show-biz cunts, and there are far better op-ed writers who present either side of any issue. I suspect you don’t read or defend anything Conservatives don’t fucking *tell* you to. Because you are a supremely trollable lockstep baboon. You may not be aware of this, but you should be. You are a tool if you think Ann Coulter is anything more than a mouthpiece, like the above show biz pissy little bitches. Try not to be such a predictable, tool, douchbag baboon. And until you do, you will continue to be troll bait.

I can’t believe you are such a fucking moron. Do I have to spell it out to you? This is an open forum. Someone makes a statement. One has the choice to agree, disagree, ignore, change the subject or post something entirely meaningless. NO ONE is being manipulated here. Anyone can post what they want. But some fag like you decides to parrot the pseudo-intellectual Lard Fart Valve ASSuming and alleging if anyone an *agreement* with someone else, they are leg-humping and if anyone posts a *disagreement* with someone else, they are manipulated and troll bait. Only a toad would believe that arbitrary pretense just like the stupid idea of if you piss someone off here, you’ve beaten them or one-upped them. What a childish pretense and false sense of "superiority". And I know where you got it from – yep, your phony diety, Lard Fraud. Now there’s a big difference between posting an agreement with someone else and ass-kissing, brown-nosing and boot-licking the illustrious fraudulent slut and pseudo-guru, Lard Valve, but you probably can’t tell the difference with your asinine mentality. LOL….a lesson on the subtleties of meaningful usenet discourse from the King Kong of sock puppet sniping…thanks for the laugh. *You* posted the original troll, I took the bait and flamed you a little…now, why, exactly, are your lil panties in a wad about this? Post a troll, and prepare to be ignored or flamed. That’s how it works here in usenet. So, back to your hissy fit, exactly *how* was my post ‘agreeing with someone else’ or ‘ass-kissing, brown-nosing and bootlicking’? I responded to your post, with a statement of opinion that was not only politically neutral, but had nothing to do with anybody else except you and your post. Maybe you were tired or something.
maybe they wre just tired of her blond hair?

Yeah, I guess I whipped you again. You make it too easy. Look, I appreciate the passion you have for the Democrat party and all, really, I may disagree with you on a lot of points, but I think it is commendable that you are interested in what is going on in politics in this country. I wish more people cared as much as you seem to. All the best, and don’t forget to register to vote, and also to show up at the polls on Election Day.

In your own retarded mind, surrrrrre. > You make it too easy.
You’re still having vivid delusions of being some sort of expert manipulator, gomer. > Look, I appreciate the passion you have for the Democrat party
Oh really? That statement reveals how deluded you are. First of all I am a registered Independent. Second, just because I like lambasting whiny conservative extremists, doesn’t make me passionate for the Democratic Party anymore than I think it’s alternative. You have two parties being funded by the same big money interests so they get their man either way. I’m still considering voting Libertarian or Green, but not for Nader this time, since he is being funded by the repugs, BUT DEFINITELY AGAINST BUUSH! Yet there’s still a chance I may vote for Kerry, but only a moron like you would think that means I have a passion for the Democratic party. > and all, really, I may disagree with you on a lot of points, but > I think it is commendable that you are interested in what is going > on in politics in this country. > I wish more people cared as much as you seem to.
I wish more people would seek truth and express truth instead of trying to deceive people to further their agenda and I know both the repugs and demos do it, but lately it seems standard procedure coming from the neo-con extremists. For example: In their desperate efforts to paint Senator John Kerry (D-MA) as a serial flip-flopper, President Bush’s reelection campaign has resorted to gross distortions of his public statements. The campaign is now trumpeting the fact that Kerry, after voting to authorize the use of force in Iraq, described himself "as an anti-war candidate."[1] The claim is based on a clip of Kerry’s 1/6/04 appearance on Hardball with Chris Mathews, which is featured in a new 12 minute "documentary" on Kerry produced by the Republican National Committee. This is how the RNC presents the interview:[2] MSNBC’S CHRIS MATTHEWS: "Are you one of the anti-war candidates?" KERRY: "I am – Yeah." The real transcript of the interview reveals that the clip was doctored. Kerry was not trying to shift his position but actually reiterating his belief that President Bush made a mistake in the way he went to war. Here is the actual transcript:[3] MATTHEWS: Do you think you belong to that category of candidates who more or less are unhappy with this war, the way it’s been fought…Are you one of the anti-war candidates? KERRY: I am — Yes, in the sense that I don’t believe the president took us to war as he should have, yes, absolutely. SOURCES: 1. Perhaps you misunderstood my post…sorry bout that
… It was a post to paint you with the same type of broad, bigoted brush that you attempted vs. my post…LV bootlicking and all that…so I said I admire your passion for the Democrat party…toss in some baboon squadery, etc. cmon…do you think I *really do* admire your ‘passion’? Well, of course, the answer to that question is ‘yes’. I appreciate that you seem passionate about *something*, even though you may not have some fancy ‘philosophy’ or ‘guiding principles’ behind it. You appear to be willing to take a stand, and speak out on issues that are important to you at that particular moment…Hey, you set an example to all people who may not think their opinion is ‘well-thought-out’ enough to say it above a whisper…well, you are indeed an inspiration to those people that they can ‘just express themselves’ and they can be assured that theirs will not be judged the most incoherent on the ‘net. As Rodney Dangerfield said in ‘Back to School’, "(You) really seem to care…" That’s a rare quality, and, absent other contenders, one you should be proud of. Cherish it, nuture it, and perhaps, have a university study it for posterity. I’d bet it tests ‘positive’ for posterity! I have no doubt that you are ‘registered’, and encourage you to speak to as many people as you can imagine, and get them registered, and make sure they go to the polls on election day. This is an important election. You seem to have a good thing going out here on AGA…you need to leverage that good will, and use it to *educate*, *set an example*, and *inspire* people to become involved, speak their mind, and eventually even to *learn* about that which they believe. I wish you the best of luck in this endevor. <snip> >All the best, and don’t forget to register to vote, and also to >show up at the polls on Election Day. > It’s your right not to tell me, but if you don’t care, may I ask > you who you are going to vote for? I’m undecided. I often vote Libertarian, though, if I don’t think either candidate has a ‘vision’ for the next 4 years…and really I have not seen any evidence that either of the major candidates does. I’m not crazy about the possibility of Ashcroft on the SC, or believe that Bush has an actual ‘plan’ for anything…he can be decisive, and that is a good quality for reacting to 9/11…IMO, ya can’t build a 2nd term on 9/11. I need more than that. …and I’m not crazy about an indecisive, Socialist-leaning, big govt Democrat, who has run…so far…on the impressive promise that he is ‘not Bush’ (setting attainable goals??)…but will do what Bush does only faster, or cheaper, or better… Similar to 2000, when I voted for Browne. I have heard Badnarik speak…but I’m going to do more reading on this guy.

Did I say you are a LV toady? No, I said you parroted his contrived "rules" of if someone replies in disagreement (or dispute) they are to be defined as manipulated which is just like the other "rule" of if you piss someone off here, you’ve beaten them or one-upped them. Then I went on to compare leg-humping with ass-kissing, but did not say you were a toady, did I? Maybe in another thread, but not this one. Believe or not, I’m not really all that passionate about anything. Did you ever read the book, "Zen Tennis"? I haven’t but someone told me the basic principle: one doesn’t really need the pressure involved in competing like the obsession to win and the fear of losing by simple trying to play better then the last time you played. Sure, I try to outwit people or try to come up with a more clever insult than the ones directed at me, but do I care if I end up being more clever or less clever? No. > You appear to be willing to take a stand, and speak out on issues that > are important to you at that particular moment…Hey, you set an example > to all people who may not think their opinion is ‘well-thought-out’ > enough to say it above a whisper…well, you are indeed an inspiration > to those people that they can ‘just express themselves’ and they can > be assured that theirs will not be judged the most incoherent on the > ‘net.

It IS an important election, but some states still have rigged voting machines – those Diebold touch-screen ones that provide NO paper trail. And guess which one of the states is using those machines? Yep, Florida. Then again, Bush could use the War Powers Act and call off the elections. > You seem to have a good thing going out here on AGA…you need to > leverage that good will, and use it to *educate*, *set an example*, > and *inspire* people to become involved, speak their mind, and > eventually even to *learn* about that which they believe.
I *do* hope people think for themselves about politics AND electronics instead of being lazy and simply expecting the answer to be handed out freely. At least do some research, some reasoning, examining a schematic and measuring a few things or at least try to isolate the problem area and get multiple perspectives about things by imagining or asking around like instead of asking "how do I fix my reverb that squeals", ask about some specs like "how many ohms should I see between the red and blue wires and the green and black wires on a Fender reverb transformer?" as one example. > I wish you the best of luck in this endevor.

All that, yes, but again, you appear to have missed the point. Wait just a damned minute…I never said anything about reverb. Believe me, I know that politicians run everything through the effects loop of their choosing…they all use a level of ‘distortion’ and the power of ‘chorus’…I’m not sure how much is ‘reverb’, unless you are referring to ‘echos’ of the Reagan admin in the appointments to this admin. >I wish you the best of luck in this endevor. > Whatever, but thanks for being civil. However, I miss your sense of humor.
Apparently you miss it on more than one level. I recommend you read my previous post…and *read between the lines*. I worked for almost five minutes on that post, and I am disappointed that you were not irked by the *intended* humor in it. I worked on that post, and I am personally hurt that you did not understand what I was attempting to convey. > In fact, the very first post I read of yours had me falling apart laughing > for several minutes and few more when I thought about it later. > Whatever it was, it was insanely funny.

Oh, please…this is not only inconsequential to what happened, and to what happened since, it is (and has been widely seen as) an unfair, and unimportant video clip. What would *you* have had him do, that would have *made a difference* on 9/11? Given the rules of the election (and votes in Congress for that matter) that is a valid way to vote….however…if you don’t vote for the *best man* for President, you are compromising your principles, for the sake of pragmatism within the electoral rules. 51% is a powerful number. It is the underlying *cause* of a two-party system, whereby the two parties look for hot-button issues, whereby they can lock in votes to *get elected* (rule # 1 in Politics). >Similar to 2000, when I voted for Browne. > I really wanted to vote for "none of the above."
Well, no such thing….there were many alternative candidates if you care more about principle than "electability". >I have heard Badnarik speak…but I’m going to do more reading on >this guy. > I agree with much of Harry Browne’s statements, but I too need to research > Badnarik.
Yep…The Libertarian party sometimes, IMO, has some unworkable ideas, however, balanced against the "best man for the job" and, alternately, the fact that there are big compromises a Libertarian faces with the prospect of voting for either of the Dems or Reps….on balance, I see that compromise as equal or better. But that’s me. We are a nation of laws an compromise. Personal liberty is not always the prime mover in elections, unfortunately. I’m sure we will both research, compile the data as we see it, and vote for the man who will do the best for America…a very complex equation.

You are reading way too much in my statements. In fact, it must be the way you expect me to read you. If I wanted to imply that you bootlick LV, there are many better ways of saying that, but I really don’t play that game. On occasion I break from being totally literal, but for the most part, I’m being direct. Yes, but Bush not waiting a few minutes would have done nothing at that point…look at what we know now about the nature of the attacks, and apply it back to the times. We do not know everything Bush was told by security…and some people have the nerve to say that he did something cowardly by getting on AF1 and flying to Nebraska. The account I read was that *he* wanted to get back to DC. One way or another, all this mattered not. We were vulnerable for reasons that had nothing to do with who was in office. We were beat in that round as soon as the hijackers go on the planes. Order #1 was ‘cooperate with hijackers’. Well, there are plenty of fiscal conservatives who are not happy with the administration. Can Kerry reach them? I doubt it..since he seems to struggle with presenting a message to the moderate undecided voters, which he should have crafted long ago…I don’t think he has it in him, to be honest. The guys on car talk suggested to one woman to take her car in to a jiffy lube and get the oil changed. They would fix it in order to do the job. However, look behind the release lever in the passenger compartment and see if you can find the cable. If it won’t do it, try taking off the front grill. — Dick #1349 "They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety." ~Benjamin Franklin Home Page: dickcr.iwarp.com
My 2000 e46 323CI ‘clonks’ at the rear end when i put it in 1st gear. It seems as if the clutch is dragging very, very slightly. Is that possible and if so, how do i fix it? Cheers
This clonk usually comes from a bad universal joint. The clonk is present in all gears, but car noise obscures it. Consult the Bentley manual to determine how to adjust the clutch. Jim

Adjust the clutch?? If it’s only a slight clunk then this is normal & it’s the drivetrain/differential/driveshafts moving slightly. Sometimes even though you’ve got the clutch pressed in there are still parts moving in the gearbox. You could try bleeding the clutch cylinder but if it gets bad then you may need a new clutch.
2000 Chrysler T&C Interior Water Leak under Right Front Dash Dealer cleaned out something once under warranty. Warranty expired several months ago. Leak under right front dash, clearly A/C related, has started big time when A/C is running. Soaks carpet. How do I fix this and where are things located that I have to fix? Thanks
Your condensate drain from the condenser area is either plugged or it is misrouted. Either way, get it taken care of before the mold begins to grow in your carpet–cost and smell will be more than you can bear.
Job probably wasn’t done right. What does the receipt say regarding what was done?

Two things: 1. Clogged drain passages for the A/C, or if "rain" induced, there is a drain passage on the right side of the wiper cowl that plugs and causes incorrect routing of the rain water or when washing the vehicle, need to make sure if it leaks during rains or only when using the A/C. 2. The seal/gasket between the HVAC housing and the firewall is also a well known condition that Chrysler service departments are aware of ( and very costly repair at that). If the dealership already repaired this once, I would contact the service manager about this and seek repairs under warranty (depending upon how much out your warranty is). They should be able to help you. If not, contact Chrysler customer assistance (your dealership can give you the phone number) and seek assistance with this well know problem, if it is the firewall/HVAC seal. They will not help with just the drain. Depending upon the current mileage of your vehicle, history and how many months out of warranty service your vehicle is., I have seen many cases where Chrysler has assisted with the repairs. Be persistent.

Hello, I have problems with both my kitchen and bathroom fans. There is very little suction. They vent outdoors under the soffets. The house has had its sofets replaced with aluminum soffets. The new soffets cover the bathroom and kitchen vent. There is no grill or vent cover on the soffet. My guess is that the duct work for the vents is plugged or is severally restricted where the soffet covers the vent underneath. How do I fix this. Can I vacuum the duct work? Do I need to cut into the aluminum soffet to expose the vents? Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. For your information the house was built in 1965. The aluminum soffet were installed before we bought the house. Thanks, Mike :)

I never take hot showers and I never use my bathroom fan. I almost never use my kitchen fan. So it’s easy to imagine that the owners didn’t forsee this, didn’t care, or didn’t notice even after it was done. The soffets are the horizontal plates under the eaves, right? If not, I’m not understanding your question. And if so, I’m not sure how the vent comes out behind them. Can you find where the ducts come out without removing anything, or by removing something you can put back later. I haven’t had this problem, but I would problem drill a few holes in a pleasing pattern, enough to let enough air out. Or drill some holes and use a nibbler to make some horizontal slots in a pleasing pattern. Will that let rain in or something. If it will let bugs in, glue some plastic window screening over the hole. or under the hole. The screening that made up part of my soffits came away from the wood, before I bought the house, and I found two sparrows dead in my pink insulation, with only their heads sticking up. I wonder how they did that. My bathroom fans upstairs vent just under the ridge rail, inside the attic. I’ve wondered for years where the powderroom fan vents.
>Thanks, >Mike :)

If your exterior vent was covered by a lazy hack you should cut a hole in the aluminum and screw on a grill with screen
Hello, My soffets are aluminum that are corrugated with small perforations. Is there a way of removing a section of soffit? They seem to be set into a track and linked together. If I could remove a section then I would have a better idea of what I am dealing with. Mike :)

My Scots self-propelled lawnmower is having trouble starting. And when it does start, it runs for about 15-20 seconds and shuts off. It sputters when running, and bluish/white smoke pours from the exhaust. I figure this is burning oil? But how do I fix it? Thanks, Todd

Could be as simple as a fouled spark plug, but. . . . . . Sounds like time to rebuild the engine. Oil getting past the piston ring will cause this also. Ed

If it is burning oil then the most likely reasons would be a bad valve guide or that the piston rings are shot. Either way the engine is probably going to need to be rebuilt. It may be cheaper to just replace the equiptment. …Ron — 68′ RS Camaro 88′ Formula Bird
or the exhaust has oil in it if you have stood it on end (like me?!) and you have to burn it off. aleks

Actually, it could be as simple as the engine was tipped the wrong way during storage or service. If the engine was tipped carburetor DOWN, the Tecumseh engine could have oil in the carburetor, while the Briggs engine most likely has an air filter full of oil. In either case, cleaning out the offending oil (either drain the Tecumseh carb, or replace the Briggs filter) should eliminate the smoke. As we were cleaning the last bedroom, we found another crack. We didn’t notice at first because it had been covered with a strip of plastic something or other and painted over. Again in a corner, but not on the same wall as the other room. This one is along side the closet door. I also noticed a hairline crack above the back door in the kitchen and one above a hallway closet door. Might just be the paint cracking, the molding around the doors were put on sloppily. Crooked nails. ~ Jill
Ya know, if the house is 34 yrs old, and the similar problem is not in evidence on the other side of the wall, that’s good. You could take care of it with drywall mud and a spatula, and after the third application, when it was even with the rest of the wall, just go over it with a wet sponge to smooth it all out. For a bit more assurance, you could use fiberglas tape along the crack, after you filled it if you like, then apply the mud into it, but the level would be out a bit.

He didn’t inspect the trim and doorstops, though we noticed right away that the trim is messy from pait drips and scratched from the seller’s cat. Almost all of the doorstops need to be replaced. I suspect he checked the door from the outside of the room. Does the crack look fresh or old? It looks like it has always been there. The paint around the crack is not chipped. > Does door work smoothly and close properly?
Yes. > Is the casing on hinge side tight?
I’ll have to check, but I think so. > Does anything in corner feel damp/mushy, or smell?
No. It is just dusty. > Best case scenario- sloppy drywall job, maybe with no stud or blocking right > in the corner, and the thin strip from door opening to corner was basically > floating. Hard to tell from here. Is this a new house or existing house you bought? In either case, shame on inspector- one of the items on list should be to inspect operation of all doors, and condition of trim, doorstops, etc. As a kid making apartment punch lists, I used to spend abut five minutes per room, trying/touching/wiggling everything, and then taking a final look to see if anything ‘felt’ wrong. Best case scenario- sloppy drywall job, maybe with no stud or blocking right in the corner, and the thin strip from door opening to corner was basically floating. Need to pull casing off that side of door, and rework corner, replacing drywall as needed, and mudding and taping. Worst case scenario- sloppy framing carpenter, and the base of the wall itself is moving around. Does the same wall junction on opposite side of door look okay? If this is a new house, this is definitely something to beat on builder over. aem sends….
What happened and how do I fix it? As we were cleaning walls yesterday, we shut a bedroom door and saw that the walls had come apart at the corner, next to the door frame. The crack goes from the floor to about 1/3 of the way up the wall. It is aboutlt a half inch wide at the widest part. It is no surprise that both of the inspectors missed it. You can’t see it unless you close the door. We have not found any other cracking or damage to other walls. ~ Jill

Before I replaced Wall to wall with a pre-finished oak floor, I fixed all the squeaks by using screws. With the carpet removed, I simply placed a screw about 1 inch from every nail that previously held the 3/4 plywod subfloor to the floor joists. In many instances, the floor was pulled down enough for the nail to pop up a 1/2 inch! I also encountered about 2 dozen nails which missed the joist completely. After this, no more squeaks. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

The floors in my bedroom squeak. They are covered with wall to wall carpeting and I would like to quiet them down some. Any suggestions? Dan Please remove nospam in email address to contact me.
I’ve seen people screw in those small head finish screws, right through the carpet. The screw pulls itself through the carpet and padding and is invisible. I have not done this myself so I can’t personally recommend it. Mark

Screw into what?
> how do I fix a squeeky floor?
1. Mark on the floor where weight causes a squeak. 2. Locate subfloor structures near those spots and secure with fasteners (either nails or screws, your choice: nails are less visible, screws more permanent.) 3. Repeat if necessary. — Don Phillipson Carlsbad Springs (Ottawa, Canada)
how do I fix a squeeky floor?
Find out why it is squeaking. This may sound obvious but it is where you have to start. For example, is the subfloor moving and is that the squeaking? Is the floor moving on itself? Is the subfloor not level under the wood floor? They all require different solutions. If the sub is moving: try shimming the joist/sub meeting point below the noisy area. If the wood is moving on itself: try some talcum powder or powdered graphite in the tongue and groove joint (don’t lift floor, just sprinkle into the joint. If the wood floor is lifted above the sub: from below, screw into the wood floor in order to pull the wood floor down. It is necessary to put a sufficient weight on the floor (I used the wife). Also, and very important, predrill before screwing. Hope these help… – Hide quoted text — Show quoted text -> how do I fix a squeeky floor?
